Jesse Johnson was born in Brookings and lived here until middle school. Johnson graduated high school in Evergreen, Colorado. At that point, she decided to be a SDSU Jackrabbit. Johnson moved back to Brookings in 1996 and has been here ever since! Owner of Sunflower Salon & Spa here in Brookings, Johnson has two fantastic kids. Avery, graduated from Brookings High School in 2022 and is now attending SDSU! Growing up she played basketball in the BBA program and through middle school. Then she found the love of volleyball, playing three years for BHS as well as the SDVC. Her son, Sam, is currently a junior at BHS. He also played basketball with the BBA program as well as football through the youth football program. He’s been playing baseball ever since he could swing a bat. Sam plays basketball and baseball for Brookings High School and legion baseball in the summers. He plans to add golf in the fall! Johnson has enjoyed being on The Bobcat Backers boar, fundraising for some great events which have provided our youth equipment and opportunities they may not have had otherwise. Johnson states she has “met some wonderful people in our community through The Bobcat Backers” as well. We have a strong community that supports our youth and our athletics. Go Bobcats!!!
